Lamelle Correctives Cathepzyme 2

Cathepzyme 2 is the stronger of the two Correctives enzyme exfoliators. Rather than dissolving the surface with acids, it relies on Cathepsin D, an enzyme involved in the skin's own shedding process, and carries a higher concentration of it than Cathepzyme 1. The aim is to speed up natural cell turnover, refine rough patches and soften fine lines while leaving the protective barrier intact.

Who it is for

This is the step for resilient skin, or for anyone who has already used enzymatic exfoliation and is ready for more. Lamelle reports clinical evidence that it improves keratosis pilaris, the small rough bumps often found on the upper arms and thighs, so it is worth raising with Amanda if those bumps are a concern. With ongoing use, Lamelle cites shedding improved by up to 50%, hydration up by 39% and skin that measures 35% firmer over time.

Using it well

The recommended rhythm is two to three times a week. Because it exfoliates without stripping, it sits comfortably alongside a hydrating serum such as Correctives HA+; on the remaining days, a barrier-supporting moisturiser keeps the skin balanced. Anyone who finds it too lively can step back to Cathepzyme 1.

In the treatment room, Amanda may suggest Cathepzyme 2 to keep texture refined between derma-planing or medical chemical peel appointments, and she will advise when to stop it in the days before a procedure.
